Research is at the center of our department's daily activities alongside teaching.
The members regularly organize and participate in various activities such as seminars, conferences, workshops, scientific meetings, etc., which promote the exchange between researchers and an update on the latest advances and developments from different parts of the world.Our research seminars provide an insight into the focus areas of our department members as well as our international networks and inter-university research work.

Göttingen Economics Department Seminar
The research seminar of the chairs of economics takes place every semester. Renowned researchers are invited to present their most innovative and current research findings to a broad audience of academics and students.

Digital Development Dialogue (3D)
The Digital Development Dialogue (3D) seminar is a monthly online forum for policy and research exchange. Two speakers - a researcher and a practitioner - address key development policy issues with the aim of stimulating meaningful dialog across the theory-practice divide.

Development Economics Seminar
The Development Economics Group organizes weekly seminars in cooperation with the Development Economics Network Berlin, which take place on Mondays at 13:00.

Colloqium "Current research in economic and social history"
In the regularly held colloquium, topics relating to economic and social history are discussed with researchers.

Global China Conversations
The Global China Conversations are a monthly online discussion forum that promotes the exchange of ideas between research and practice. The Conversations are organized by the Kiel Institute's China Initiative in cooperation with the Centre for Modern East Asian Studies (CeMEAS) at the University of Göttingen, the KOF Swiss Reconstruction Loan Corporation at ETH Zurich and the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau.

Research Seminar of the Chairs of Statistics and Econometrics
The Research Seminar of the Chairs of Statistics and Econometrics takes place every Wednesday from 09:00.

The department's commitment is also reflected in the number of publications in scientific journals and in the contributions to economics.
