Overview
The Faculties of Agriculture from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and Talca (homepage of the university (spanish), homepage of the department of Agricultural Economy) have been cooperating scientifically for many years. In 2002, they launched the post-graduate Master in International Agribusiness (MIA) to address the need for trained professionals in the field of agribusiness. The programme has drawn students from different Latin American countries and Germany. Until now, about 70 students have graduated after successfully completing the courses.
As student from the Master Degree in Agricultural Sciences, with concentration in Agribusiness or Agricultural Economics and Social Sciences (WiSoLa), you have the opportunity to enroll for one semester at the University of Talca, in Chile. Studying in Talca will offer you the opportunity to gain international experience, explore a new culture and improve your Spanish knowledge!

Studying in Chile
Chile is a “long and thin strip of land”, located in the southern extreme of America, borders with Argentina, Peru and Bolivia. Talca is the capital of the VII Region of the country with about 193,755 inhabitants; it is located 255 km south of Santiago de Chile on the “Region del Maule”, the largest wine growing region in all of Chile. The name of the region comes from the Maule River, one of the most important Chilean watercourses.
The Region del Maule limits to the west with the Pacific Ocean, to the east with the Argentinean Republic, to the north with the VI Region del Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins and to the south with the VIII Region del Biobío.
Founded in 1981, the University of Talca has progressively become one of Chile’s main referents of higher education. It offers 21 bachelor’s degree programmes, 23 masters and four Ph.D. programmes in the following fields: Law, Agriculture, Forestry Engineering, Business, Accounting, Dentistry, Medical Technology and Mechanical Engineering.
The University of Talca has a modern library with more than 100.000 volumes, access to important national and international networks and to important national and international data bases. Moreover, the digital library platforms are online with many prestigious universities. The University’s facilities also include Wireless Internet Access, a central Mensa, and modern computers designed to access international data bases and e-learning programs.
