Our Non-Academic Partners

The following organizations do not offer the Euroculture programme, and are not directly involved in the organization of the programme. Instead, these associated partnerships are based on various shared (research) interests and identified shared societal needs.

With over 60 events each year, the Evangelische Akademie Loccum facilitates open yet critical dialogue in socio-political debates. In doing so, it aims to strengthen democracy in our country and preserve peace. As a key forum in Lower Saxony, the Academy has a nationwide and international influence. As a church-run institute, the Academy sees its work in the service of democracy and dialogue as stemming from its Christian responsibility to promote peace and understanding within society. Through its work, the Academy also influences the Protestant Church and theology: it confronts both with the problems of social reality and supports them in giving their social and religious tasks a form that is both contemporary and appropriate.

Museum Friedland

For eight decades, people seeking refuge from all over the world have crossed paths at the Friedland Border Transit Camp, situated at the junction of Lower Saxony, Hesse and Thuringia. Founded in 1945 to accommodate war refugees, it has become a place of refuge and is now an initial reception centre in Lower Saxony. Right next door, Museum Friedland tells the stories of the around 4.2 million people who have migrated to Germany via Friedland to date. It collects, presents, researches and educates the public about the history and present-day reality of migration in the Federal Republic of Germany. In doing so, it follows individual life stories and sheds light on the complex processes of departure, arrival and new beginnings. Its areas of interest include migration policy, social participation and identities, integration, democracy and asylum. The museum’s close proximity to the initial reception centre shapes and enriches its work in a unique way.
