FlexNow: Registration rules Biology

Note

  • Different registration procedures apply faculty-wise. The faculties of Informatics (X.Inf.000), Physics (X.Phy.000) and Agriculture (M.IPAD.000): Registration for courses only in StudIP; Registration for exams in Flexnow. See below the procedure for our faculty.
  • StudIP: In Faculty of Biology predominately used for communication between teaching stuff and students (e.g. file sharing). CoBi and DNB use a StudIP query for course pre-selection (see below). In other faculties: Often used for course registration (but not Exams!).

General rules at Faculty of Biology

  • You must be registered in FlexNow to take part in exams, seminars and practical courses.
  • Registration for exams and seminars/internships is decoupled and must be done separately according to different deadlines, see below.
  • You can find the registration periods for each module in the statistics portal FlexStat via query 218
  • Check every registration in FlexNow under "Exam results" to see whether the registration worked.
  • FlexNow sends an automatic reminder email to your student email address 72 hours before the last opportunity to unsubscribe.
  • Report errors in registrations in FlexNow and incorrect entries immediately to the examination office: bio.pruefung@biologie.uni-goettingen.de.

How to register for exams

Written examinations:

  • Register up to 7 days before the exam:
    This means if the exam takes place on July 14th at 10 a.m., registration is possible until midnight on July 7th.
  • De-registration up to 24 hours before the exam
    Is the exam on July 14th at 10 a.m. de-registration is possible until July 13th at 9:59 a.m.

Oral examinations:

  • Registration up to 7 days before, de-registration up to 5 days before exam :
    This means if the exam takes place on July 14th at 10 a.m., registration is possible until midnight on July 7th and de-registration is possible until midnight July 9th.

Sick before/during exam:

  • If participation in an exam is not possible due to illness and it was not possible to deregister via FlexNow, the sick note must be submitted to the examination office within 3 days (uploading via the portal is sufficient to meet the deadline). Otherwise, the examination is considered “failed due to absence”.

How to register for practical courses/seminars

Mind the announcements in our StudIP study groups as well as in the BioBlog.

M.Sc. Biodiversity: Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation (M.Biodiv.xxx)

1. Registration and deregistration for participation in modules (practical courses, seminars; lottery procedure)

  • winter term: first half of October (details see OwnCloud)
  • summer term: mid-March (details see OwnCloud)

2. Registration and deregistration for vacant places (practical courses, seminars; first come, first served; details see OwnCloud)

  • winter term: 19 Oct until 7 days before start of the course
  • summer term: 01 Apr until 7 days before start of the course

3. Registration and deregistration for module exams (lectures, seminars, block courses; according to exam date and exam type)

M.Sc. Developmental, Neural and Behavioral Biology (M.Bio.3xx) and M.Sc. Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (M.CoBi.xxx)

Lottery decision for DNB planned to shift to FlexNow. Information updated end of August.
Register for some modules (practical courses, seminars; most are capacity limited) via a preselecting StudIP survey. You find the survey on the starting page of the programme's StudIP-study group under "Evaluations". Not first come, first served. Equal chances for all who submit the survey.

  • winter term: 15 - 20 Sept
  • summer term: 15 - 20 Mar

For all modules not listed in the query and vacant places directly register in FlexNow (fist come, first served)
