Otto Benecke Foundation (self-portrayal)
What is the Otto Benecke Foundation (Otto Benecke Stiftung e.V / OBS)?
The Otto Benecke Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in 1965 at the Technical University Berlin on an initiative launched by the German students’ associations. It acts on behalf of the German Federal Government.
Main objective: integration assistance for immigrants
OBS engages in integration tasks by providing humanitarian aid in education to immigrants, quota refugees and foreigners entitled to asylum who wish to start or continue a programme of university studies or are university graduates seeking employment corresponding to their educational qualifications.
OBS offers orientation assistance
People who move from one social and educational system to another enter an alien world in which they need to reorient themselves completely. OBS helps them to find the right way: through extensive counselling, it helps with planning education and training programmes as well as with entering professional employment; it holds seminars to provide information about possible alternatives in education and employment.
