Dr. theol. Michael F. Wandusim will assume administrative responsibility for the ICT professorship in the winter semester of 2026/2027

I am pleased to serve as acting professor for the Intercultural Theology Endowed Chair this semester—a role that brings me back to my academic ‘home’ institution and allows me to teach in a program that has profoundly shaped my own scholarly trajectory in Germany.

Trained in New Testament studies (Dr. theol., Göttingen 2020) and Intercultural Theology (MA ICT, Göttingen 2016), my research and teaching sit at the intersection of New Testament scholarship and intercultural theology. I am interested not only in interpreting early Christian writings (i.e., the New Testament) within their historical and literary contexts (exegesis), but also in exploring their reception in contemporary political discourse and in Spirit-driven Christian movements such as Pentecostal-Charismatic Christianities across the Majority World, particularly in Africa. In addition, my work examines the history of modern missionary translation of these sacred texts (and indeed the entire Christian Bible) into the diverse mother tongues of the Majority World and how these translation processes have shaped the emergence of global Christianities as well as hermeneutical and theological approaches, especially in Africa.
