Doris Cornils

Doris Cornils joined the Göttingen Diversity Research Institute in April 2025 as coordinator for the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Einrichtungen für Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung (LAGEN). She assists the speakers in matters of admistration, public relations and communication as well as event organization.

Doris Cornils studied Socioeconomis with a focus on sociology as well as interdisciplinary women's and gender studies at the former Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Politik (HWP), now University of Hamburg. She then was a researcher in the project consortium "Aufstiegskompetenz von Frauen" ("Women's Promotion Potential"), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, where she was part of the project "Organizational Politics and Women's Promotion Potential". A further career step was first coordinating and later leading "Pro Exzellenzia", Hamburg's career competence centre. Together with her former colleague, she received the "Chef*innensache Award" for successfully realising equal opportunities. Additionally, Doris Cornils has taught at several universities in Germany.

Her main research and publication interests are the sociology of work, families and childhood, qualitative methods, women's and gender studies, sociology of organizations, micropolitics, leadership, career and power.
