Research

The Department of Chemistry in Göttingen comprises three almost equally sized teaching and research institutes: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry und Physical Chemistry. The diverse expertise of faculty members from these fields converges in the faculty’s three primary research areas, which are continually reinforced through strategic appointment policies:
  - Sustainable Chemistry

  - Functional biomolecular chemistry

  - Analytical methods for molecular interaction

In addition to foundational expertise in the core disciplines of chemistry, the department focuses on modern and interdisciplinary research areas. These areas exploit the local collaboration opportunities and contribute significantly to the strategic research objectives of the university.
The faculty engages in various interdisciplinary projects with numerous neighboring institutes, aligning with the strengths of its research foci. Our state-of-the-art large-scale equipment, partially consolidated in central facilities, supports cutting-edge research on contemporary topics.
