Nonlinear Dynamics

Prof. Dr. Theo Geisel

Nonlinear Dynamics is the foundation of the theory of complex systems. In conjunction with methods from stochastics, statistical physics, and quantum mechanics we use it do study problems that at first glance appear to be very different, like the spread of pandemics, the dynamics and self-organization of neuronal systems, the theory of anomalous diffusion and percolation dynamics, the formation of freak waves, transport in mesoscopic systems and temporal fluctuations in the rhythm of musicians.
