"Becoming a White Man" with P. Carl
The section of North American Studies and the Göttingen Centre for Gender Studies would like to invite you to a reading and discussion with author and dramaturg P. Carl.

P. Carl is a nonfiction writer and Distinguished Artist in Residence at Emerson College in Boston. He completed his PhD in Comparative Studies in Discourse and Society at the University of Minnesota. The co-founder and past director of HowlRoundBecoming a White Man (Simon & Schuster, forthcoming), which explores his transition from being perceived as a queer white woman theater-maker to living fully as a white man and touches upon subjects such as American identity politics, transphobia, and gender politics.
Carl will present excerpts from this work at the eponymous talk "Becoming a White Man," which will take place on Wednesday, November 14 at 4.15pm in VG 3.103 (Verfügungsgebäude). Please join us in welcoming an author that sparks a discussion about what it means to "become a white man as white men march in Charlottesville to assure America of their supremacy," while still "feel[ing] the incredible love and joy of inhabiting the wholeness of [his] being."
